Yes, he was on his flight to Cocos Keeling Island but the plane had to return to Perth due to bad weather on the route.
Some days later Mikio san found a flight from Perth to Christmas Island which allowed him to activate VK9QO.

VK9QO confirmed via LOTW today. Took 22 days, pretty fast. So, yes, Mikio
