    Hi Martin,

    I wanted some information:

    the propeller I see you have the male connector N coming out of the ring that hangs on the arm of the dish, I had big problem with the same propeller, I think it's a correct version, I could not tighten the connector with your hands, but with pliers.

    Have you had this propeller recently?

    What SWR presents with 20 watts on the offset?

    You can tell me that down-converter you used, and if possible links and useful info for me.

    Excuse the questions ... I also put two offset of 80 cm x the sat separately

  • Hi Maurizio,

    the feed you mean is a 5-turn Helix with a female N-Connector. I had no problems connecting the cable.

    The Kuhne UP-Konverter reports good SWR, but I still have to write a software to read out the SWR. Give me a little bit of time.

    I also have the Kuhne Upconverter. You said you will write a software.

    Could you implement ON/OFF and temperature readout.

    I want to use my upconverter remote and so I could remote control the transverter (in the moment I use a terminal program, but this is very unconfortable).

    Unfortunately do not program any more (20 years ago in basic and pascal ;-) )

    only for info for a minimalistic way to TX via the transponder:

    just tested my planned portable setup:


    - FT817

    - SG-Lab-Transverter

    - 10dB attenuator

    - 8W WLAN-Booster (EP- AB003; ~55.- € - no modification- just out of the box) direct to the N-Input of the Antenna

    - old 25 Element F9FT (Tonna) Yagi

    RX: -when portable WebSDR (today was my onw 85cm offsetdish)

    An I got a readable signal over the transponder. (I do not have a dB value, because I was holding the Yagi in one hand und the microphon in the other hand ;-) - but I could hear me clearly).

    The yagi needed a bit "modification" - it was resonant at 2,25 GHz (why ?) and after removing the first director I could measure a good SWR on 2,4 GHz and a return loss of -19 dB.

    no, I didn't measure the power, because I havn't a power-meter for 2,4 GHz ;-( (I just can mesaure SWR and return loss in 2,4 GHz).

    But I will measure it with a friend's equipment. (somewere in the www I earlier found an article from someone who measured this particular PA and it was close to 8W. As far as I remember there a two transistors in parallel).

    I just made a qualitative test and it seems to "amplify" ;-).

  • DL5RDI Have you measured the output power of that WLAN booster?

    My AB003 ordered in China is traveling. Others have made measurements and more or less all agree. The output is on the two Watts. The devices employed could provide 5 Watts. The manufacturer declares 8 Watts. (fantasy)

    Thank you for your information. But there are different measuremts concerning the power in the link you posted. E.g. LY2SS said he has 6W output......

    I will measure mine with real equipment and report the result.

    In my qulitative measuerement it was about 6dB better than the SG-Lab transverter alone.

    But what counts for me is, that my setup produces a readable signal ;-)

    P.s. as power supply for the PA I used not the tiny thing shipped with the booster, but my 35A 12V supply with 3mm^2 lines to the booster .
