Are the messages sent with FEC ?
Are the messages sent with FEC ?
Yes Thomas,
as described on the AMSAT-DL Homepage under NB Transponder Bandplan and Guidelines...
See also the provided link...
, then it makes no sense to reactivate my old AFREG-decoder.

?? As far as I know did the AFREG decoder only generate the clock and data stream from the PSK signal what you have finaly to decode with software which uses the FEC algorhythmus.... (IPS running on ATARI 800, later ATARI 1040 and finaly PC)
Hallo Robert
I opened my archive... Arno Hausmann, DH4KAH, created the "Codeconverter für AO-13 PSK Bakendekodierung mit einem PC oder Terminal (RS232)". See AMSAT-DL-Journal 6/88. At this time FEC was not implemented, only later with AO-40. If I remember me right, there is a hardware-modification for the AFREG decoder for FEC somewhere. Anyway, I also can use AO40Rcv.
Hallo,
ich habe die gesamten Artikel aus den damaligen AMSAT-DL Journalen in einen Artikel zusammen gefasst und auf meiner Webseite eingestellt:
Satelliten-Telemetrie-Interface für 400 bit/s
Viele Grüße

Hallo Matthias
In your summary FEC is missing. I found the following article:
https://www.amsat.org/articles/g3ruh/125.html
James Miller, G3RUH, created also a decoder and a FEC add-on for AO-40. But his website seems no longer online. I would have liked to reactivate my AFREG-decoder, but unfortunately that time is over.
No, I mean a hardware-modification I have seen elsewhere years ago. This is a C-routine which is used also in AO40Rcv I think.
Thomas, maybe you are referring to this kit. (webcache.google)
Also I have a hardware BPSK decoder, design G3RUH. At the time, it took me three or four months to source the components, build and test it. It gave me a lot of satisfaction but then times change, with the AO-40 software decoders arrived and not just for BPSK. Our hardware has an enormous emotional value, I would say historical. But it's no use anymore, I think.
sometimes the "WayBackMachine" is better...
Thanks for your answers, but I have the AFREG-decoder + Codeconverter (-> RS-232) from DH4KAH. I mean I have seen a FEC-upgrade for the AFREGd some years ago on a JA-OM's project site. As Lucio said, it has an emotional value also for me, I had decoded always PSK-frames from AO-13 for up-to-date info, when which mode (MA to MA) is active.
I write a GNURADIO block to decode psk beacon (it can decode K,L,M,N block). It need a GNU demodulator (costas loop and clock sync) .
If someone is interested I can provide the decoding block.
It will be much more interesting if some additional information should be added to the beacon: telemetry don't make sense (due to IP regarding satellite functionality) but information regading dx expedition, special call, ecc can be useful.

David

Hi David IW5BNL ,
Can you send it to call@yahoo.com?
It is for 3.7 or 3.8?
My wishes for a happy new year!!!
