Hi Roberto, I use 1 m dish with a 3W output. The previous test are with attenuator at shack. For more precise tests I use now a 20 dB attenuator , so I use 30 mW. It works fine. Communication was also possible (not error free) with about 10 dB more attenuation i.e. 3 mW !!!

I use the SDR console. To control the PTT I have an external USB relay. I wanted to use VARA SAT, but the PTT control does not work anymore. When I press "Sart" in RMS Express, the PTT relay of the PA is not turned on. Can you give me a hint what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

Hello, Roberto,

That's the problem. It's been identified as HID. This can be addressed by the SDR console. In my case, for my PA's PTT, how do you set it to "Radio only Setting"?

I always have to manually set the PA to TX and then to start at VARA - or is that what I want?

And excuse my tests on IS0GRB in VARA. I can only connect there at the moment, but I can't send or receive mails yet.

hello Peter. can you use the VOX to trigger the relais-PTT in SDR-Console? if not: it might be worth to ask Simon if this could be implemented.

Hello Holger,

with the SDR Console this is very easy. Switch on FOX, don't set FOX gain to 100%, hang as it suits you best. Then talk, done!

Vara to IS0GRB works perfect! My setup: Tx with FT-736R oldie connected via Omnirig to SDR Console, receiving via stick and SDR Console.

Interesting, what you can still do with old analog transceivers..
