As in instruction, sma connector should be in upper left in that photo.

Yes and no .. let me think ...

Intuitively I think when you mount the patch properly it doesn't matter.
But need to check the geometry if my feeling is ok.
Edit:
(It's like space groups from X-ray diffraction / crystallography .. ;- )
If you mount the patch ok .. that is .. the feed point is closer to the sharp edge (and further to the cropped edge) than it'll work.
Before you solder the patch, put it in the pipe, take a photo and let me look?
Edit2: only the patch will be 'rotated 45 deg' (in relation to the right edges, now its 'parallel' with the round edges), but it's circular, so what the heck . . .

I desoldered it with torch (at work) and reinstalled. I also made some spare parts with water jetcut, 10 pcs each.
