it could be interesting to get a report from those guys who use the Octagon receiver...
new version Minitioune V0.9.9.1
-
-
Octagon works still i.O.
-
I can confirm this issue as well. It's only the beacon... and VLC versions work.
-
Hi,
today I tried the latest MiniTioune v 0.9_9.1h but I am a bit frustrated with it. I adapted the ini as I did for the v0.9.beta8.9 (which runs very well, apart from the totally overloaded GUI which is nearly too big for my FHD screen), ran the "install_usrc_ax_winXP.exe", but the beacon (or any other station) doesn't decode anymore (see attachment).
The most right LED of the TS indicators always stays red. The previous version works still well.
Any hints? Am I missing some parameters or drivers?

I have similar problems. It is decoding, but it hangs every 2 secs even with good MER (8.7). I installed the LAV-Drivers, but no change ... Audio works fine ...
The Scan&Tioune Software using VLC works with no problems.
What to do ?
-
Is there guide, how to establish a TS-Transfer by UDP to VLC ?
-
In MiniTioune activate the UDP button
In VLC type Ctrl + N then enter this address
udp://@230.0.0.10:10000
-
Thanks for the info Lucio.
It looks that the video runs much smoother with VLC.
Is it also possible to switch off the Minitiouner audio en video stream and use only VLC?

now it is working!
this morning when I checked it was still jerky...but now it's ok!
I don't know what happened as I didn't touch my system configuration since yesterday morning...
-
here still stuttering ....
-
Old Version V0.9Beta8 stuttering too... what happened?
-
the Beacon TS doesn't comply. This TS is now very badly encoded.
Windows decoder is very sensitive to bad timing (PCR/PTS) and VLC support better bad TS.
If you receive others well encoded stations you will not have this effect.

DL9SEC :
the 3 TS_leds green show that the MiniTiouner is receiving the TS
The last TS_led red says that the PC is not receiving the data. ( you can see under the TS leds : "bytes received = 0"
So the problem comes with the USB transfer.
I have no answer yet if the version 0.9.beta8 works without changing anything (same MiniTiouner, same USB cable, same USB port..nothing else is plugged to the PC ...
Could you show what info you have when you click the info button ( all info concerning the detection of devices etc..)

Yes, that was my guess too.
In thread # 17 I had already suggested that the AMSAT should perform a RESET of the beacon hardware/software ..... it worked before
-
The most likely problem is a recent windows update as changed the LAV codecs to use the Microsoft own codecs
Download win7DSFilterTweaker_63 this will show you which codecs are being used by various software and it also gives the option to change the codecs in use for given software.
Hope it helps

I did this -- but no change ....

At this moment the reception of the WB Beacon is perfect. However, I also had occasional problems. It is still necessary to investigate but when the beacon is not received well, noise is always present both on the spectrum with RTL2832U and in the "Noise" window of the MiniTioune program. As you can see from the attached image, the spectrum is clean and the noise in the program is very low. Reception is perfect.

Very interesting. Keep up the analysis - this is good research. If everything works there is little more of interest to do, it is when there are problems it gets interesting. That's the one of the benefits of amateur radio, we push boundaries. We fail, we fix, we develop.
One point we might consider is that this did not happen earlier. Now was that because there has been a change in the TS or is it because Microsoft updated their codec? Perhaps analysis of a recorded TS from the beacon prior to the change would be instructive here. I will look to see if I have anything, I did save the beacon right at the start but as it's such a high rate, I don't think I have a more recent recording. Maybe others have. If we can find such a recording a comparison of the differences might throw up clues as to the cause.

by the way, I can see here that the video jerky reduce slowly after the start of the MiniTioune software.
No matter what time of day. If I stay on reception, the jerking becomes less and less over time, after 10-15 minutes it´s gone. The video runs flawlessly.
If the software stops and restarts, the whole process starts all over again.
What part oft Software can slowly adapt to the TS?

- The jerky video depends also of the codec we are using under Windows, I have tested different of them, but when it is better, I don't really know if it is the change of codec or the change of the moment I do next observation after changing the codec..
- We don't have this jerky video when we receive a DATV station on QO-100 (supposing the TS transmitted is well encoded)
...As I say, I continue to investigate...

Hi JP,
as for the codec I can assure you that here the MainConcept video decoder always works, I repeat always, in an optimal way. In this respect, I have made repeated tests and I can say it with extreme confidence: the MainConcept video decoder never presents the problem.
