Octagon SF8008 Lock Detection

  • Hi, all,

I read in this forum that a number of people are experimenting with the Octagon SF8008 for DATV reception. I, too, can confirm that the SF8008 works reliably down to a symbol rate of 250kS/s. It goes down further, still, but not to one of the "default" rates, let's say 125kS/s. My question is: has anybody found a way to detect a lock to a signal or found a spot on the PCB to detect RSSI? The reason for my question is that the Octagon keeps the last image received which is undesirable in most circumstances. With a signal detection one could blank out the video before it travels further onto the monitor or the transmitter.

  • Hi,

I am also searching for similar solutions.. I checked the Linux kernel and saw that the Tuner manufacturer is providing precompiled kernel headers. So its very hard to do detailed modifications.

If we can find details of RDA5815 there might be a solution.
