Where can I Buy a TCXO to improve the stability of the Pluto. It seems there is no stock for the TCXO ABRACON ASTX-13-C-40.000MHz-I05-T at Mouser. Is there an alternative?
I have an Adalm-Pluto Rev B
Thanks for your help

Hi,
I recently purchased https://www.ebay.com/itm/332389156868
This is an OCXO, so it is with an oven. It takes 90 seconds to stabilize (and the casing gets warm as the oven heats up).
I got these as frequency reference for by QO100 setup if GPS isn't available or if I want to test something quick - GPSDO takes more time to synchonize.
Mind you, this thing does 10 MHz, not 40. But if stability is an issue - give it a spin!

In order to have as good accuracy as possible, a R trimmer must be used to set it exactly at 10 MHz. The R trimmer must be a multi turn one and be powered from a very good (without noise) source that provides 4-5 V. I want to make such a no GPSDO module and I plan to use an existing 4.096 V reference.
AD recommends 40 MHz, I bought a 10 MHz OCXO with a second output of n x 10 MHz from Aliexpress, but didn' get it yet.

Which reference did you buy from Aliexpress?

Hi André,
I bought this one, which has also a 40 MHz output:

There is one at eBay too.
Detlev
Hi Detlev,
Did you get the OCXO from AliExpress? How did it perform?

Hi Detlev,
Thanks for sharing the experience. I was about to order this one but phase noise problem worried me. Will decide after getting some user reports. For reception locking to middle beacon solved the drift but for TX pluto drift is unacceptable. The Abracon TCXO is no more available with Mouser or Digikey. Leobodner refused to ship his GPSDO to AP Land. After making about 300 QSOs I have stopped using pluto till I find a stablizing source.

Hi Syed,
I bought another 40 MHz OCXO from Ebay, Aliexpress offers it too: RTL203004. I will try to compare both oscillators, but my spectrum analyzer seems to be too old for such measurements.

Display MoreHi,
today I've used the OSC101 as external clock. It is completely useless. I transmitted on 2.4 GHz with the internal clock (image left) and with the OSC 101 as external clock (image right).

Thanks @DC7KG Detlev.
Very interesting.

Hi Sandro,
I suppose you can't reach the recommended phase noise values with a clock multiplier. I am waiting for a 40 MHz OCXO (KVG RTL203004) from eBay.

Hi @DC7KG Detlev.
I haven't experienced with 40 MHz OCXO. I use the ENE3311B here. 10 MHZ output. I hope very successful for you.

Hi Sandro,
AD recommends 80 MHZ (2 x 40 MHz), but I don't know the influence of the frequency. Important is the quality of the transmitting signal, I think with a 40 MHz OCXO there will be no difference to the internal clock. When your signal is ok then you have no problems.

Hi Sandro,
I've just got the data sheet of the RTL203004. It is a TCXO with 3.3 V supply voltage.

Hi,
Any suggestions on using this TCXO by Epson (2x2.5 mm).
