  • Which laptop for Pluto mobile system?

    One of the best tools to use for a portable station with a pluto and a laptop is SDR console! It will only run on Win. I have used it successfully for 3 months in Italy and it was a blast (see my QRZ page). So get a laptop with a processor and enough memory that runs Win, SDR console with low latency. For example an I7 processor (newer generation) and 16GB Ram. Hope this helps,

  • Lime SDR Mini V2 testing with SDR Console

    Currently testing the new Lime SDR mini v2 on QO-100 receive only. It is a bit noisy and appears less sensitive then the Pluto since the unit is not shielded and the settings for the unit are not optimized. Will try TX soon. Anyone else is using it? Feedback?



  • Portable setup in Sicily (IT9), VE4SW

    Have been QRV for a few days now. Lot's of contacts already. Basic station setup is either Adalm Pluto in SG Labs amplifier and 60cm foldable dish with Bamatech LNB/Patch, or FT-818 in Amsat QO-100 Transverter and SG labs amplifier into 20 element Yagi. Amazed how great the Yagi works and so much more portable (fits in suitcase).

    Hallo Hans, ich nehme an das du von der SDR Konsole sprichst. Du sagst leider nicht welchen Prozessor du benutzt. 8GB Ram ist schon ein limitierender Faktor. Die 50 bis 63% Auslastung ist auch sehr hoch. Schau mal ob Win noch andere Prozesse am laufen hat und ob du die Einstellungen in der SDR Konsole geandert hast. Versuche auch mal die neue Versiom 3.3 beta....

  • QO-100 Station Build Journal

    Not sure why you make this such a massive "science' project! I have Pluto, a laptop with SDR console, headphones, my preamp and SG labs final amp, a small power supply, and a POTY with a modified LNB. All on a 40+cm travel dish and will be online in 3 weeks from Italy. It really is not that difficult.

  • SDRangel V. 7.6.3 + Pluto + Win10, wie geht das? how does it work?

    Habe gerade die letzte Version installiert (7.6.4). Mein Laptop ist ein älterer MacBook Pro (2012) mit Win 10 in Bootcamp. Habe den Pluto über USB angeschlossen und gewartet bis der Pluto aktiviert war (Pluto SDR (D:)). Habe SDRangel gestartet und den Pluto unter dem RX Device gefunden. Pluto funktioniert hier.

  • QO-100 für Einsteiger Seminar 23.-24. September in Baunatal

    Schade! Ich finde die Idee wirklich gut. Manchmal sind es die "Nebenkosten" die es fuer Teilnehmer schwierig macht. Anreise, Hotel, Essen, usw.... Das wird dann schnell 200-300 Euro oder mehr. Überleg mal ob du es mit anderen Veranstaltungen kombinieren kannst. Friedrichshafen ist immer ein Anziehungspunkt. Hoffe es klappt.

  • Double/Dual commercial feed horns for 10GHz and 2.4 GHz

    There are commercial 10GHz antennas, but I am aware of nothing that has been combined with 2.4GHz. At this point, I would recommend waiting until we know the exact frequencies available with the IC-905. There are enough brilliant people out there that will be excited and ready to make a combination antenna for use with QO-100 once we know more about the IC-905. Until then, save your money (a lot) for the IC-905 :) Remember, the amateur radio frequencies available are 10.0 to 10.5GHz and the NB transponder is at 10489.5 to 1049.0. Let's just hope Icom will make the full amateur radio band available. Should be common sense. :)

  • New DXpatrol "Groundstation" now Full-Duplex !

    Hallo Peer,


    Freue mich für dich das du jetzt eine neue Station für Euro 1000 hast die dir gefällt. Meine Kosten waren um die Euro 550 und mir gefällt meine Station :) und die Ästhetik ist überhaupt nicht zu vergleichen :)


    Zusätzlich habe ich AMSAT-DL unterstützt und das war eben auch wichtig und die Erfahrungen und Spass den ich im Zusammenbau hatte sind unverkäuflich! Nein, du hast mir keine Illusionen genommen. Mach dir keine Sorgen... :) .


    Alles Gute und hoffentlich hört man sich auf dem QO100 in Januar 2023 wenn ich wieder in Europa bin! Bin dann mal gespannt ob deine Station Euro 450 besser ist... :D
