I've just ordered a Leo Bodnar GPS Antenna. I'll report back on whether it provides a faster lock with more visible satellites than the stock GPS Antenna.
Thank you, I would appreciate that

Intresting note about GPS antenna, so the Bodnar could be classed as an upgraded antenna
many thanks for the reply.
Its working ok for now so I'll tweak it again, thanks for all the tips and noted
hi all,
Does poty orientation matter ?
Please see my pics is there any particular way the poty should be lined up ?
Have a look at mine and tell me if its ok?
Many thanks
thank you very much
sure no harm in having a cup of cofee while waiting for OCXO.
Its a brilliant little chuck in the bag and go bit of kit, I actually purchased another one so I have two of them, one for my QTH and one for /p
thanks for Clarification, the GS is very nice product, especially for portable and traveling use. It should bring alot more hams on QO-100 for its ease of use
I have the new GS and I find ita great little all in 1 kit, although im having some TX teething problems atm it's due to my cables and connectors.
Are all the dx patrol LNB the same that will work with the GS or is the GS one thats included specifically made for the GS?
For example would the one in this pack work with it ?
Hi Wilhelm,
the right pic is a original pic from CT1FFU (dx patrol), not from EI2EJB !?!
that is correct, i found this from the dxpatrol twitter
thanks guys,
I will update and let you know how I get on, should have the cables by end of the week.
thanks for replies guys.
I will ditch the pigtails completely, I will go n-type on the hyperflex10 direct to the antenna using a 90degree n type adapter as a direct connection would not be possible as the LNB mount would be in the way, the messi connectors are long, and then use a sma to n type adapter for the GS.
so I have gone and ordered the following,
approve ?
thanks
Display MoreHi,
2.4 GHz is not DC, you can't solder two cables together!!!!
You have to use the appropriate connectors for your Ultraflex 7 cable, SMA and N for the Helix.
73 Detlev, DC7KG
Thank you for reply.
Ok I will order some appropriate connectors in and retest
i csn confirm the SMAs are correct
again I dont have a dummy load.
Why do you have to use connectors on the coax, it should matter if there direct soldered or not I would have assumed. The issue was still here using the pl259s which is why I removed them as there not designed for 2.4ghz.
I really appreciate the help trying to get this working
did you measure the VSWR with built in LNB? I think this helix needs the LNB for correct working
I do not have a analyzer for the 2.4ghz range unfortunately.
Yes mounted on the LNB i am getting the high SWR as indicated on the Ground Station
ill take some pictures now of what I have might be best
I'm not using any connectors on the ultra 7, I soldered directly to the sma pigtail
I'm running SMA pigtails because on the DXPatrol ground station it has an SMA connector for the 2.4ghz TX. On the helix antenna I'm using a n-type to sma pig tail that is going to the coax
bug still HIgh SWR, the GS goes into protect mode
Hi,
the Helix has the right polarization. You should use a N-connector socket and an approriate cable.
Detlev
Thank you for reply.
I have removed the so239s and pl259s, I have a n type to sma adaptor on the helix, pigtail that is directly soldered to ultraflex 7 coax. The other end has also direct solder to pigtail lead into the ground station
