It was a tragic news to read that Hanspeter Kuhlen, DK1YQ, died on September 23 at the age of 69 years. The funeral took place today near Munich.

Hanspeter worked as an engineer in major aerospace companies; in the years before retiring he was mostly involved in frequency management matters on CEPT and ITU level. In the 1980s, he was a member of the RUDAK team in Munich, which at that time introduced the first digital techniques to AMSAT's amateur radio satellites, e.g. AO-40

Being a licensed radio amateur since age of 18 years, he always kept his interest in amateur radio. After retirement he offered his knowledge and expertise to the DARC as a consultant for the problem of compatibility of amateur radio with Galileo satellites on the 23cm band.

In that role he represented the interests of amateurs in talks with EU representatives and other involved parties; he was engaged in studies about this problem at a university in Munich, which were suggested by the German administration.

We will miss him very much, our sympathy to his family.

But this tower not exclusively for QO-100, I suppose.

For QO-100 just a small tripod with 60cm dish would be sufficient.

Over the weekend I am probably /p in JO40/41. Your freq please?

    70jährigen..

Gruss aus Buxtehude Rolf z.Zt. "portable"

Assuming the direction to the satellite is correct, 5W and 22dBi should work nicely. So either you don't have 5W or the antenna is not 22dBi.

    there is nothing to add...

just use a 65cm dish with G3RUH and you will be happy. There are so many busy contributors here. Rarely active on the xponder

Greetings from Vienna - (portable equipment not ready yet)

the dots are 3dB above noise,

more or less than my suppressed carrier when I am not talking.

What will be the conclusion? Prefer two-way contacts.

February 14th we found that 50mW to a 60cm dish is sufficient for two qsos in cw 539 +

At around 11:50 UTC A71A appeared on .710.

DK2ZF was lucky enough to made the QSO number one.

At first Hamid was on the Mike, later DB2OS and DH2VA

They are running 300mW into 2.4m dish . The group will return on mondy.

    Well done boys !

    Feb. 14th 10:53 UTC:

Tu ALL for the correct BCN qrg, i have a little offset but it doesnt matter AMATEUR RADIO is EXPERIMENTAL by definition.

And: satellite means DUPLEX since the old OSCARS. You can run and tune simultaneously your own transmission by strength and quality.

And now waiting for the upcoming procedure
