Display MoreHello,
I am a new member to this group. I am using Windows 11 and looks like I am doing something wrong with HSModem software and in
"Tuning Window" I see received signal, but no RX Sync (always Red) and no picture. Since I am located in North America the only choice is to use WebSDR in Europe.
Thanks.

Hi Riri, there are many people here who would like to help you but we need to understand what your problem is. Is your antenna aimed well at the Es'hail-2 satellite? If you have a commercial TV-Sat receiver you can try tuning this TV transponder which arrives very loudly in your area. Eshail-2 beam MENA freq. 10770 Vert. DVB-S2 8PSK 27500 3/4. This means supplying 12 Volts to the LNB to have vertical polarization. Once the antenna is aimed well at the satellite the rest becomes easier.
As you were told for the transverter you must ensure that the local oscillator frequency is set to 1968 MHz.
1968+432=2400 MHz. So you will have to provide the transverter with a 432 MHz signal (1 watt is enough) to have 2400 MHz output. Please if you still have problems try to explain your difficulties better

I prefer N connectors which are mechanically more robust than SMA connectors. SMA connectors are excellent but for fixed wiring that does not require continuous screwing/unscrewing. In any case I advise you to do the calibration with cables inserted so you will avoid straining the NanoVNA connectors. In practice, instead of calibrating on the VNA connector, do the calibration on the cable provided and that will be your calibration point. I hope I have explained myself.

Updated firmware for NanoVNA SAA2N.
Please be careful: this firmware is for SAA2N only. To understand this in the photo.

That's fine Roberto. Stick with this firmware if everything works as expected. For the case, metal would be preferable, if you can find it on the market. Or see if one of these is right for you.
-
Roberto, forget about the possibly obsolete documents. You should refer to this page paying attention to the version and screen size. As you can see, the image alone is not enough to identify the hardware. Not to mention that some have the device packaged while others sell it "naked". I was wondering if you have a link to the product you purchased. Could this one circled in red be yours?

Hi Roberto, there is still an active link to your NanoVNA. Exactly what you bought, I mean.
-
Hi Roberto, unfortunately the group of designers who had developed the NanoVNA SAA2 separated for commercial reasons. As a result, there was no longer any official firmware development. Then there's the matter of the clones and here we go to another endless field. From your photo I assume it's one of these. If you accept the risk of loading this firmware that I attach you will have a new, much friendlier tool. Otherwise you are left with the old firmware which still works fine.
-
Hi Roberto, can you post a screenshot of your NanoVNA? The initial one: Config/Version

Hi guys,
Really a lot of interesting and useful info can be found here but I still can not find how to
restore my SAA-2N analyzer to its initial factory settings.

Perhaps the easiest way is to load the firmware again.
P.S.
After loading the firmware, you need to re-calibrate the device including the touch screen.
-
the latest version is this:"V2.74" from blackmagic 20201013
which you can download at this link. (pay attention to the version)

...
Lucio, I logged in as administrator. In the settings the soundcard was only found in the output field. Without soundcard found in the input I can't play the sound from a WAV/MMV-file.
hi Thomas, forgive me but I still don't understand what kind of radio you are using and how it is connected to the PC. Based on this answer there is a different solution.
-
Yours appears to be a Windows / microphone access permissions problem. On which device do you send the audio signal from the radio? Set this device as the default recording device. Then make sure that the various programs are authorized to access this device. In Italian I could show you the exact path but in your language I don't know ... Then set the execution of the programs that interest you as administrator. Unfortunately, Windows is originally rather armored and touches to eliminate many software barriers that for our purposes are just annoyances.

Giovanni, this version of VLC should work.
let us know
-
Finally, the solution with Twin LNB is the most suitable. No problem for the DATV with unmodified LNB.
-
Hi Giovanni, this is Chinese stuff and I doubt there is a filter inside. If true it would be an advantage since our signal in conversion is on 740 MHz while the limit on the splitter is indicated at 860 MHz.
Giovanni, go easy. There is nothing to lose at 740 MHz.

Hi Gio, you can safely use a TV-SAT splitter. Be careful, you need a splitter that passes the supply voltage for the LNB to only one output port. The other port must be electrically isolated to avoid possible trouble.
Insertion loss problems do not exist in this case. In fact, the more you attenuate the conversion signal, the better the SDR works.

Andreas, look at minute one and ten seconds if that's what you're looking for.
