    Hi,

Lets suppose that we have two OCXO one in 10 MHz and one in 100 MHz with the same phase noise at the same offset. The phase noise is increased by 20log(N) dB) where N is multiply factor. In our case N=10, so we have 20 times larger noise. It meens in simple words that if we create 10 MHz from 100 MHz it will have 20 time less phase noise or if we create 100 MHz from 10 MHz it will have 20 times larger phase noise. It is obvious that when we produce 25 MHz from 100 MHz the phase noise will be less than produced from 10 MHz. One calculation that I have done is that phase noise produced by multiplying by 390 (9750/25) is about 50 times bigger!!!

The ECOC-2522-100.000 existis in various versions with similar prices and different ppB, so a small ppB is prefered as has better stability... PA3FYM AOCJY1-100.000MHZ seems a good choise for GPSDO available from Mouser at half the price.

George, it's 20 dB more / less phase noise. Anyway .. that's exactly why I -from the beginning (end 2018)- beated on the drum concerning PN of the LNB reference and use(d) crystal filters for purification.

    Hi George,

That is an interesting 'Way to Rome' and I am surprised that the HC74 can cope with 100 MHz ?

Where did you get that 100 MHz OCXO?

    Hello Markus,

Being an avid N1MM+ user I don't understand your question?

N1MM+ is one of the two most populair (CW) logging programs, its 'commercial' counterpart is WinTest.

Both programs have CW (sending) options and logging, also both programs have the option

to 'program' Function Keys with standard messages where the 'variables' like callsign and

    report(+serial number) are included automagically.

No no no ... it doesn't work 100%, because it 'does not work' in JP94UX and perhaps there are other grids where it doesn't work?

    Who knows?

I suggest the following: I donate Andreas SA2BFO 10 euros. If others will do the same, there will be enough money to ship the whole contraption from Germany to Sweden and then we try to 'remotely' solve this JP94UX 'black hole' issue.

    What say?

So ... you are saying that the same setup works flawlessly in Germany and not in JP94 with free view to the satellite?

    I think I know why .. there must be a conspiracy ; -)

@SA2BFO .. Reading the information above there must be a (trivial) error. 1.5 Watts at the feed into a ' 90cm' (offset or prime focus) dish must be sufficient.

Like asked before: how do you measure the 2.4 GHz output. Perhaps is there a loose connector/cable?

I suggest you do not sell your equipment and give it another try. Like Mike said .. perhaps you/we could arrange a 'test sked' so we can all monitor.

This simply has to work. <-- period

Yep, that is exactly what I'm doing: some under illumination to prevent overspill to 'warm' areas because my setup is indoors.

Then concerning the 'gain' ( DL5CN doesn't believe this):

When you bundle an isotropic radiator into a 'beam' then you'll have 'gain', i.e. the energy will be radiated into a certain direction,
This of course is reciprocal, so your 'ears'/receiver will be more sensitive into that certain direction.

The dielectric lens does exactly this, it bundles the intrinsic radiation pattern from the open waveguide.

The measurements of several lenses (made by PE1CKK, NOT DF5VAE !) were performend with a HP435 Watt meter (see the tweet in on page 2 of this thread) and a 10368 MHz signal source several meters away. This signal was received and it's strength was measured with the (milli)Watt meter. The observed (-10 dB) opening angles and power (gain) is relative to the open waveguide <-- being 0 dB).
