I sent 12v from Bias Tee to the RX of Pluto does not receive. possible solutions?

As per object I accidentally reversed IN - OUT sending 12v from Bias Tee to' RX of Pluto now no longer receives... Possible solutions? TX perfect, if there are no solutions I use it only in TX !

Unless you like to smd surgery, either buy a new one or as you said use it for TX only.

Thanks for the reply......while I was writing I imagined that some microsurgery had to be done!!

But I think I'll just keep it in TX, I have another one, but I don't want to destroy that one too!!

Hi Alberto,

By applying 12V to the RX, you may have fried the input transformer, which has a DC connection from input to ground. There is a ESD suppression diode at the RX as well that may be damaged. Both parts are on stock at digikey.

I will do a search for your answer. I suspected it was the transformer....
I'll put it under the microscope... if I still can, maybe I'll try to fix it... my eyesight isn't what it used to be!

Hi,

A quick search is to ohm meter the Rx input. If it is low R maybe the diode is short circuit and if is infinite maybe both coil and diode is damaged.

why didnt they add a series cap between input and transformer?? cause the puto was not planned as an rx tx device for us ... but as a "toy for students" to play in the classroom with only the rubber ducky antenna

...and why didn't they put the Pluto in a metal housing and why do they still use a highly temperature-dependent 40MHz TCXO and why didn't they provide an ethernet port and...and... ????
