It can be done very easily and cheaply via QO100 operation. No transceiver is required, no transverter. Only a Pluto SDR, an amplifier stage depending on the dishsize and an LNB for reception.

The reason for the relatively high transmission power is only the small portabledish and 10m cable..
With 2Watt direct behind a 1.2m dish, you will get the same result in tx (and better in rx)

I just wanted to point out a much cheaper option. Thanks to the work of Felix and his publication of the KiCad files, it is also possible to adapt the PA to your own needs.

For example, I installed a SAW filter in the entrance of the PA. However, this is a bit more time-consuming because you have to deal with the layout program.

I have modified a EXL-S with the "other method 1a"

Other method to inject external REF into LNB!

LO injection with transformer, 4 turns 0.2 mm copper enameled wire on ferrite bead.

PLL locks from -20 dBm, signal/noise ratio is best at -10dBm LO power up to 0dBm. Output frequency between 144 and 1300MHz adjustable, on 144Mhz about 3dB worse S / N.

When carrying out the cable, pay attention to the cover and its webs so as not to pinch the cables. Fixing glue can be used to fix the wires and the ferrit bead, which also helps to isolate the wires in the vias.

I made a comparison between POTY with and without a Rocket lens (Venton).

Mounting in front of a 1.2m offset dish, 0.66 F / D

Measured with Siglent Analyzer and 20x averaging.

LNB is a modified Venton Rocket EXL-S with ext. LO.

(due to the averaging, the lower beacon is only half as strong as the upper one)
