QO-100 Linux SDR Transceiver

  • Dear all,

I haven't found many people on the air using Kurt's software, so I decided to bother you on this forum.

I have been wondering whether my receive path is good enough. The signal levels I get with the AMSAT-DL software on the narrowband transponder with RX bandwidth = 2.7kHz are:

    • Lower beacon: 29dB (when there is no Morse).
    • Middle beacon: 22 to 23dB (0Hz centered on response null).
    • Upper beacon: 22 to 23dB (beacon centered on 2.7kHz receiver bandwidth).

Are these numbers realistic or is my receiver deaf?

Any replies or opinions would be most welcome. Thanks!

  • Hallo,

please have a look to this thread.

Don't care about beacons. Try to see the noise floor from the ransponder above the LNB noise.
Use an RTL-Stick V3 and SDR# to have a spectrum. It is good for finding the satellite and dish adjustment also. The possible SNR of user signals and the beacons are referred to the transponders own noise. That's why reports like 59 are useless.
