I don't have an amplifier yet, more or less I am waiting for an opportunity to buy either some surplus PA or a design from LZ5HP (sg lab) if it becomes available.
But also I am not that eager to get on as the first one, and like to see what the realistic power requirement will be. For now I have 2W and an 88cm dish for which I still need to make a feed.
The Spectrian amplifiers are cheap but they are extremely inefficient!
Not bad when you need a heater, but as a 13cm amplifier... not so good.
It means a big power supply is required. And maybe that much power is not needed at all, we need to see.
I found the attached project for a 100W low-pass filter (unfortunately the Author is SK)...
the main problem (for me at least!) is to find the RT/duroid 5870 with a dielectric thickness of 1.57 mm!!!

With all WiFi equipment (filters but also antennas) you always need to watch for the maximum rated power. These devices are normally used at 100mW..1W EIRP so very low transmit power. Of course there exist illegal power amplifiers but even those are usually not more than 4W.
I use this kind of surplus pallets. Around 3 mW in and (measured) around 30W @2.2, 20W @2.3 and with some tweaking 11W @2.4 GHz output.
Overall efficiency @2.4 GHz is not very good, but what the heck . . . for 10 Euros (!)

DB8TF : I have also a larger version of this pallet. Delivering >60W O/P with the same drive (3 mW). Friends of mine tested these at 2320 (and I believe one of them (also) at 2400) MHz, and were satisfied.
I haven't tested this version myself (yet).
Edit: I just verified. One friend gets >50W O/P on 2400 MHz with the pallet above.

This mrf21120 amp module ist very similar to the three finals in my ericsson amp.
A few weeks ago i saw on eBay some guy (chinese?) selling those modules "cutted out" from such an amplifier.
i dont know....buyed this module and an other one in 2001 for a good price from a hamradio friend...used the other part for 13cm (2320) in contest at about 40w with 8W DRIVE (DK2DB AMP) so this design is old ....cheap ...but useable..... GAIN is 8..10dB max. 100W POUT @ CW/SSB but not for DATV OFDM! (look for linearity) so i think max DATV OFDM 15W.

For use on 2,4GHz maybe the anaren filters are better removed?
Yes, that is what I did (this are not filters, but circulators), and moved one trimmer somewhat.
(don't look at the blue module, the plastic was heated (too) much (with hot air) during an experiment to ascertain if removing the output trimmer of the blue module yielded some gain. It didn't . . . The pallet still works)
