LNB: Current Usable Ones with PLL for NB Transponder

if your lnb is more than 200khz off the lnb freq 9750 (happens often!) then you will never see the beacon in the lower window. try to first find the psk beacon frequency without any entered lo and then calculate your real lo frequency.

in my case here i receive the psk beacon on 1101.048650 mhz.

real frequency is 10489.800mhz so my lo is exactly 9388.75135mhz.

entered that lo into sdr console and set the frequency display to "99" ghz you can now tune to 10489.800mhz and you see the beacon in the lower window almost in the middle

Try as max as possible sampling you can initially. Also be sure you do not have a DRO LNB. You can easy know that you have a DRO LNB if there are two big screws in the middle of your covers LNB.

hi, I have bought a Fracarro UX-TW 287338 since a few Om's have found there is a opticom pcb inside. Unfortunately manufacturer had changed the pcb even if the p/n is still the same , so I have found a different one inside. I attach the photo, if anybody could recognise it and help. it's pll and 25 MHz XTAL

iz1fks What is your question . . . how to modify it, or how it performs with the crystal alone?

I would like to modify with TCXO 25MHz. At the moment i haven't tested it with original xtal yet.

Did you removed the that mid lid for xtal removal?

yes I removed the mid Cover completely and remove the xtal with two soldering iron.

Here we have modified Goobay 67270.

LNB change faster than you can buy them. Mine works, but I'm frequently asked by newcomers for QO-100,"Which one I should get?" Good working models like the nice and small VENTON EXL-S or the "old" and famous Octagons are not available any more.

So, I'm asking.

There is always the option of making a 10.5 GHz down-converter. The converted LNB route is very easy but we can do better, particularly with respect to noise figure and a sensible IF. Anyone who has a 10 GHz transverter could re-purpose it for QO100 reception. It will need re-tuning of course and possibly a new crystal but don't forget the option.

I didn't say it was easier, I said it was an alternative and one that could have better performance. You do not need a patch feed, you a waveguide feed with a transition usually. These can be made from 22mm pipe, mine is, with a circular to WG16 tapered transition manufactured using a hammer.

The Opticum is an idea, the horn has to be removed b a saw to use a 20/22mm fitting to bring it to the POTY.

It's for a friend that I cannot visit for known reason. So I give him an idea what to order that will work.

My station is fine.

Because he has a vy good HF rig I asked for a "special" bandpass as well (28MHz IF is not a good idea). But this is an other topic.

Opticum LTP04H would work by SDR-Console's beacon tracking I guess? Then this would be a good starting point.

Hallo,
with some experience, my favourit LNB is a rocket style with a lense. Because the cylindical waveguide fits with a patch feed easily. It is shown in some threads earlier.
Its seems like the Red Eagle Black Buster Single LNB or similar is not avalaible anymore. What a pity. The contacted dealers tell me, no further production. And they do not know, is there a PLL in the actual offered LNBs.
I am looking for information to rocket style LNBs with PLL. Not for me but as recommendation. Hints are welcome.
