Changed the title of the thread from “Es'hail-2 beacon frequency.” to “Es'hail-2 beacon frequency (non-amateur)”. -
Based on recent data from 10GHz EME experiments with the moon at low elevations at one end of the path, there should be little or no degradation at 10 degrees elevation for most of the time. This data applies to a 1.13m dish at the receiving end - smaller dishes will suffer additional ground noise at higher elevations than larger dishes, but at 10 degrees there will still be little additional ground noise. More info on these tests is in Dubus 4/18 p 118.

Hello,
only a little question from a new Forum-Member:
this Day i can hear 2 beacons ...
first on exact 10.450, the second on 10500.
Both are verry clear and loud.
Can anybody verify and confirm this, or is this a Problem in my Setup ...
Standart-PLL-LNB 80cm offset iCom ic-r7100

More likely a multiple of 10MHz and/or 25MHz within your system (LNB may use 25MHz). Correct frequencies are 10706 and 11205 MHz for the Engineering beacon.
You can confirm by:
o Moving Dish
o Switching Polarisation
o Putting your hand in front of the LNB
If they don't change, then they are local to you

Hello Iain,
you are right, have tested, is a local problem

Hi All
I set an offset 120 and LNB last friday and the signals of both beacons are very strong here. So it must be I'm in the "good" footprint of the sat. My locator is IM98wn, Benidorm, mediterranean coast of Spain
10706MHz beacon V pol. With some QRM, probably local or LNB issue
11205 beacon H pol a bit stronger. More than 35dB over noise
It is very important to rotate the LNB to the proper polarization shift

I envy you Luis, you've got good signals of the TT&C beacons! Here in Holland they are marginal. So, therefore I use the Es'hail-1 11199.8H beacon to point the dish.

Here in JN57QS meanwhile also nothing to see. Remco, how strong do you see the Es'hail-1 11199.8H beacon? Here 26 dB SNR. (1,5m solid dish)

Hi all
Unfortunately, i cant receive the beacon at 10706V.
There is also absolutely nothing at 11205H.
But i'm able to receive the two beacons next to it.
I'm located in the north-west of germany. (North Rhine-Westphalia)
I'm using a 2,2m PFA dish (solid)
I think that i've pointed the dish at the right location, i can receive the 12245V DVB-S2 transponder of 26°E with 12,2dB. (Alkass one/two/three HD)

Mark,
I've not seen the 11205 beacon here in G-Land for a while (It is believed that they may have switched to a narrower beam a week or two ago). However, during the time they switched, and afterwards, I could see an increase in the noise floor while they were testing the NB and WB P4A Transponders.
The fact that you can receive beacons of _something_ suggests your system is good-to-go (pointing adjustments with a 2.2M dish aside, you may need to tweak things, I know I will, and I only have a 1.1M)
I think we just have to be patient now, for the spacecraft to be handed over to the operators, and then some time after that P4A testing will begin. I'm sure Peter and Achim will keep us updated as and when there is something to tell

Hello,
I get the beacon of Es'hail-1 11.199800 MHz about 23 dB with dish 1m.

Here in JO45 I have Es'hail-1 11199,8 MHz beacon with 22,6 dB S/N in 500 Hz BW. Using 85 cm offset dish and Octagon OSLO (no frequency stabilization). Using RTL dongle and HDSDR for demodulation.
I believe most S/N reports are referenced to 500 Hz bandwith, although not always stated. Otherwise difficult to compare numbers

Hello,
I can still receive the beacon on 10706V with ~10dB. Setup is a 85cm offsetdish with DB6NT (Kuhne) LNB. QTH is south east Germany (JN58xx)

In JO43VH seit einer Umstellung vor knapp 10 Tagen NIX, absolut NIX. Auch Kuhne LNB. 73 Rolf +

I can receive 11205 beacon as well. with V pol on my 60cm antenna about 8.5 dbm over noise level.
And also I can see a significant transmission peaks around 11206 with periods which are stronger than beacon.. lasts a few seconds

Here in SW DL lower EB with ca. 15dB over noise with 130cm offset dish and Octagon OTSLO LNB. Dish is pointed at the Badr sats 26°.

Some tests today. EB high beacon received with 22dB S/N. Equipment used: Dual mode contest LNB with Octagon PLL print connected to it. I use the board to test it with different feeds on sat TV receive for optimal postion on different dishes. Second beacon receive test with modified TVRO LNB( made waveguide 20mm and sma at 1/4L from closed end, 3rd LNB test was done with Otagon single pll LNB out of box(not locked). SDR rtl dongle with HDSDR. For some reason,at the low EB beacon my noiselevel is quite high, so no copy at the moment. Dish is Triax 95*85cm. I will do some tests with other dishes
